Mr. Dana R. Chappell, is the retired CEO of Ocean Wings U.A.S., Inc., an “Aero-nautical”, maritime UAV engineering corporation, and the designer and patent holder of the corporation’s signature product, the ASR-80. The ASR-80 is an unmanned semi-autonomous aerial rescue vehicle designed to provide both rapid piracy deterrence, and perform semi-autonomous search rescue capabilities at sea for the commercial maritime industry. The Ocean Wings U.A.S., Corp. and the ASR-80 design patent was acquired by a private military contractor, and subsequently dissolved back in 2017.
Mr. Chappell is now the director of Environmental Development & Associates, PSC a Professional Service & Scientific Collaborative, (Email: dr.chappell@EDAPSC.org ), and the Sr. Director of Design Research, for the ECCS research project (Email: dchappe2@asu.edu). He provides both academic and design guidance to emerging professionals within the fields of Engineering, Architecture, and Environmental Sustainability. Mr. Chappell retired from the architectural design profession back in 2009 to pursue his other passions and business interests, to quote Mr. Chappell;
"Being a business entrepreneur and environmental designer has afforded me the opportunity to pursue my many other design passions, humanitarian interests, and political objectives". I performed my graduate studies/work under the tutelage of professor/architect Dr. Eugene Ray, who lead the Environmental Design Dept. of SDSU back in the late 70's & early 80's. Professor Ray was a brilliant environmental design engineer, futurist, and visionary who developed environmentally sustainable architectural designs way ahead of their time.
With the effects of global climate change now becoming apparent, the work of Creative Designers like professor Ray are finally being recognized and taken seriously. I'm hoping my legacy as a designer will be the ECCS, and like the "The Line" currently being developed by the UAE, one of those "once in a lifetime" projects that will make a significant difference in the course of society and human development."

Graduated from APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and am pursuing my Masters degree at Arizona State University in Industrial Engineering. The relevant courses I did for my bachelors include: Thermal Engineering, Heat and Mass Transfer, Advanced Energy Engineering and Environment Impact Assessments. And as for my masters degree I would like to specialize in Operations Research
During my bachelors, I had participated in 'Sustainable Energy Championship 2019' which was jointly hosted by IEEE, PES and SEEM Kerala would be a great . In this event each team were tasked with auditing a test of 10 homes, calculating their total energy consumption, evaluated EPI and finally suggesting ways in which energy consumption could be reduced. The methods suggested was unique for each home and had also taken into account the ROI in places where installation of solar panels and changes in equipments were considered.
I had also successfully completed my Energy Management & Conservation Internship at Internship Studio, where I showed a profound understanding of energy conservation and management principles. Throughout the internship, I meticulously analyzed electricity consumption patterns in the textile industry, aiming to identify potential avenues for reducing energy costs. Employing advanced data analysis techniques and employing strategic optimization strategies, I implemented a range of energy-saving measures that yielded remarkable reductions in bills.
I believe that my adeptness in utilizing analytical tools, coupled with my proactive problem-solving approach and effective communication skills, positions me as a valuable asset in the realm of energy management and conservation and also in this project.
